In 1997, Corto moved to Paris to study Art History, unaware that the journey would change his life. He took an apartment on the rue Jean Jacques Rouseau, and spent afternoons wandering the Colonnes of the Jardin du Palais Royal. He he decided then that one day he would be a part of the community of artists and designers who’ve made their name along its corridors.
At the time, the Corto Moltedo brand was just a vague dream relegated to his sketchpad, design ideas, a collection of doodles, notes, and inspirations. They began to slowly take shape and when the brand was launched, the stars aligned for him. By 2008, Corto had found the perfect home for his first boutique in the Palais Royal.
The design of the shop reflects the heart of the Corto brand, Pop, Luxe, Chic, a spirit of legacy combined with creating something bold and new. It incorporates recycled materials and wooden crates, and a ceiling installation by Miami-based Colombian artist Federico Uribe. This is how Corto's first flagship boutique has turned into a haven where people can gather and converse, seeing the world through his eyes.
Our cradle of creativity and construction, the Florentine Atelier is housed down a hidden passageway of the via Santo Spirito, emerging at foot of the enchanting Garden of the Palazzo Frescobaldi, know to locals as the Casa del Cortile, or House of the Courtyard, a hidden oasis in the middle of the busy city centre. See Gabrielecorto making his dreams, reality, under the branches of the scented Wisteria & Magnolia. The Atelier acts as both our working head quarters and also showcases the latest selection and archival pieces. Drop in for bespoke appointments or just to see the process of our beautiful creations under construction.
